On "Orion", the band Im Wald conceives open and multilayered soundfelds. The clear and the concealed, little movements and grand gestures occur in parallel, just as if one were situated in the mist-streaked undergrowth of an interstellar forest. The five musicians use their improvisational scope to relate to each other on different levels. Thus, they create an agile organism that is constantly developing, not in a linear fashion, but in multiple directions.

With Im Wald, the saxophonist and composer Tobias Meier from Zurich presents another facet of his broad oeuvre. The projects, which range from free jazz to chamber music, share a common open attitude that challenges musicians and listeners alike, enabling both to think the music through to the end themselves.

"Orion" is to be released on the 1st of September 2016 on Zurich's indie label Wide Ear Records, which has been a platform for uncompromising and adventurous music for five years.
